Description
New York, NY: Random House (1983)
Limited Edition. Signed.
One of 250 numbered copies signed by the author.
"Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce" is a long poem bound in red cloth and housed in an olive green slip case. This copy is fine except for slight fading around the opening of the slip case. The slip case is still shrink wrapped but partially opened to release the book.
From the author's note:
"The Nez Percé (modernly Nez Perce) entered history as the friendly history hosts to the explorers Lewis and Clark, and took care of their superfluous possessions when the expedition made the last push to the Pacific. The Nez Perce were a handsome and very vigorous people, but not basically warlike; and in general they refused scalping . . . "
