Even the elements bow to someone…

Family isn’t always defined by blood, but it means everything to eighteen-year-old Natalia Rhys—especially after her brother was ripped away from her. With no power to make a difference, there’s nothing she can do… Unless the powerless become the powerful.

Natalia has grown up in the oppressed sectors of Araedia, avoiding the brainwashed soldiers of the tyrannical President Vayne Averie. Vayne rules the sectors with fear and suppression as he searches for Elementals—individuals who can harness the power of one of the four elements—and most of all, the Aether… the ultimate Elemental prophesied to either utterly destroy or save Araedia by wielding all the elements.

With her last elemental assessment looming, Natalia can only pray that she and her closest friends, Damien and Aurum, won’t end up as pawns in Vayne’s army. But when they encounter a group of rebels—led by Vayne’s mysterious son, Roman—they’re thrust into the middle of a war they might not be able to win. As Natalia and Roman grow closer, her old bonds are tested and she’s forced to face an uncertain future.

Will Natalia survive the constant bombardments threatening to destroy her and her world, or will she crumble and fall under the weight of war that lies on her shoulders?

A.J. Wolfe is a native Mississippian who’d rather spend her time with books than people. When not writing or re-reading Throne of Glass or Pride and Prejudice, she can be found harassing her two dogs, Lila and Lulu, scrounging around the house for morsels of chocolate, listening to an unhealthy amount of music, and playing video games. A.J. has been writing ever since she could form coherent sentences, but she didn’t realize how badly she wanted to write a complete book until she read the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. A.J.’s favorite things include being a fantasy nerd, exquisite sarcasm, Manchester City, traveling, and her family.
